Practice Makes Perfect

As with everything in life, practice makes perfect. Creating great digital images for your canvas pictures is no different. So what's the best way to improve your photography skills? Practice everyday. Keep a camera in your car or your satchel so you can pull it out when you have a little extra time during to snap away. All is not lost, however, if you realize you don't have your camera handy. You can still get some practice in without it. When you're walking the dog or catching the bus to work, just take the time to really observe your surroundings.

Pay attention to how the light interacts with the things around you, watch the shadows they create and look for interesting color contrasts. Think “how would I compose this scene if I did have my camera?" Eventually you will start to see your plain old run-of-the-mill neighborhood in a completely different light and your new found perspective will be reflected in your photographs.
